Blackthorn buds

The Blackthorn at the Kilpatrick muir id a little behind others I’ve seen recently from the road.
We did see out first tortoiseshell butterfly and quite a few bees today. A couple of larks singing on the muir too.

Primrose amongst dead vegetation, moss & ivy leaves
First Primrose. A few round a wee waterfall. Some wilted by frost.
Small waterfall, over mossy rocks, dead grass and bracken on the sides , a couple of primrose.

Banton Biggies

Levers

Last week as a #MakerSpaceNL warm up the Biggies explored levers. They made some simple examples of different combinations of leaver to show different types of movement. They then added a wee bit of creativity into the mix.

Cardboard Monsters

As a way to learn about levers we made some Cardboard Monsters this afternoon. We are working up to a #makerspaceNL project…

Earth Day 2023

Earth Day 2023

The Biggies are studying John Muir this term, so that filtered right in with Earth Day 2023. The day before we had visited Dow’s wood. There we collected natural sights and sounds with our iPads and pencils. On Friday in class we made composite images of our photos writing & drawing, click on a thumbnail […]

Automata Finished

There are a few photos in the video before footage of the machines in action: Today we presented to the parents & guests about our STEM (or STEAM) learning, including a section on the automata Project. The children did a brilliant job of writing scripts, creating presentations […]
