A montage of phones lock screen showing photos of nature

I don’t usually pay a lot of attention to new features when an OS updates nowadays. But the other day I discovered the “photo shuffle” Lock Screen feature on my phone. Now every time I unlock my phone I see another random image. I picked nature as the subject. I am not sure what algorithm is picking the photos but the results are delightful.

At least 30 years ago I saw a book in a secondhand shop, in Bank Street, beautifully produced, a translation of a French poet who had lived in Japan.
Some haiku like poems & some one word ones. I can’t recall any but I remember placement on the page was important.
I couldn’t afford the book.

Interesting dilemma, Thinking about moving to #ds106 https://social.ds106.us. It seems moving mastodon servers is not that difficult. I think you lose old posts but since I’ve POSSED some from my blog it is not a problem. Alternatively the ActivityPub WordPress plugin turns your blog into a member of the fediverse. The is attractive, but I am not sure how much understanding & work is needed. Or I could stay on mastodon.social

I do use Twitter for school work, just not comfortably I prefer to post to the class blog & syndicate to twitter. The latest twitter crisis reinforces this.

I’ve never really liked the idea of Twitter or any other service being the official or main channel of schools (or government services). Schools should not be promoting an advertising service. My ideal would some sort of #IndieWeb set up, with micro.blog style aggregation & syndication. Federation might be a close second.
