#tdc2747 #ds106 Online Communities https://daily.ds106.us/tdc2747/

I’ve been enjoying micro.blog. it is a community of disparate bloggers, writing in their own spaces. A sort of community RSS reader that smooths out the process of blogging & commenting without being a silo. An example of ideal community technology.

Bridge over railway

Interesting, yesterday my phone was not to hand in my left pocket but jammed in my right stuck on my selfie stick. Surprised at how often my hand twitched to look at a map, the time or to take a snap. Often reason was not strong enough to extract from the right pocket.

“HAVE A GO WITH THIS! Paint me a picture with this drawing app I'm working on. You can load a pic to "trace" the outline, and if you tap the comma or full stop keys, the canvas "slides"... Oh, and the plus and minus keys make the lines change weight. https://t.co/JqLVx5xlDl”

easier with a mouse than mobile for me.

“#clmooc Feldgang - picture collage, from a woods walk, of rocks and boulders, all slightly turned over: bugs, worms, strange roots, holes, eggs … all sorts of weird cool stuff. How about you? What will you find?”

I am finding the #clmooc Feldgang fascinating, feels like my life is a Feldgang.
I am playing with the flickrAPI…

#DragonflyChallenge2019 LEARN: FAQ we get ”How do you tell a Dragonfly from a Damselfly?" If they fold wings down thier sides when perched you are watching a Damselfly. If they hold them out straight like the wings of an areoplane it’s a Dragonfly https://bit.ly/2ROoQne pic.twitter.com/8AS4wXwwUD

Replied to bookmarked: The mindfulness conspiracy by Aaron DavisAaron Davis (collect.readwriterespond.com)
In this extract from McMindfulness, Ronald Purser argues that paying closer attention on the present is not revolutionary, but rather magical thinking on steroids. Stripped of spirituality and ethics, mindfulness is nothing more than concentration training. Sadly, it becomes something another commod...

Thanks for this Aaron, a great read, with many great quotes, my fave:

Perhaps the most straightforward definition of neoliberalism comes from the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, who calls it “a programme for destroying collective structures that may impede the pure market logic”.

The whole thing might be harsh to mindfulness practitioners who are very socially engaged, but the parallels with environmental  problems and solutions is powerful.
