a 3x3 grid of square pictures. From top left: Farm road curves between hedges; a peat outcrop, blue sky dull green hills; a loop of wire hanfging on a fence post; hills & sky; map with dots indicating where picture were taken; looking down on Finlas water;a pool in the ground, blue sky reflected; a raven against a blue sky; wood anemones

Walking round the loop above Finlas Water yesterday. Another blue sky day. Tops still brown but dry. Deer & skylarks around most of the day, a few ravens. Some bumble bees looking for nests. Green veined whites flying around between the reservoir & the car.

A 3x3 grid of nature photos around Finlas Water, featuring trees, a deer, birds, snow landscapes, and a map.

Walked part of the Finlas Loop yesterday. Sparking hill day, snow. A lot of deer. Deer seem less inclined to run off in the winter. Fox track all over. A glimpse of an eagle, later watched for 10-15 minutes as it circled back and forth along the skyline above.

grid of photos taken on a walk. 3x3: blue tit, smooth peat, loop of fence wire, waterfall in a small burn, the map where the photos were taken, primrose flowers, blackthorn, a leafless oak tree, opposite-leaved golden-saxifrage

Finlas Again: Beinn Ruisg & Creag an Leinbh: A walk in the very low clouds yesterday. Strong contrast between the lower ground and the hills, spring has arrived but it is not evenly distributed. some photos and notes: walkmap.

  • RT by @andywightman: Very concerning that woodland creation appears to have been conflated with tree planting, which is the entire focus of this press release - natural regeneration doesn't get a mention. Will the summit be the same?
