Golden ringed Dragonfly hanging from a bended reed
I was watching this Golden-ringed Dragonfly as it caught onto a reed which bent under its weight.

Meadow Brown Butterfly clinging to blade of grass with its wings closed.
School finished for the summer in the pouring rain at 1pm today. By 5 O’clock the sun and a few butterflies were out, including this Meadow Brown. By the Kelvin near the vet school.

Nice walk yesterday morning. Meadow Sweet starting to come out. 8 Ravens flying above edge of braes. Butterflies: Ringlet, Small heath, Meadow Brown. Lots of folk on the road, Braes quiet, quite wet in long grass.

Lovely father’s day walk from Stronachlachar round the west end of Loch Katrine. warm day, but good breeze and not much in the way of hills made for pleasant stroll. lots to see. More photos.

Dabchicks, adult and chick on water Dabchick and chick on nest
We saw a pair of adults dabchicks feeding 3 very young chicks earlier this week. This evening one adult fishing and feeding a chick, another adult, with a chick peeping out from its feathers, on a nest.

Walk around Kilpatrick muir this afternoon. Warm sunny, blue skys, lots of butterflies: small heath; green veined whites; orange tips, orange not identified. Red Kite flying above the moor, 1st I’ve seen here.

I am John Johnston A Primary Teacher in Scotland. I currently teach primary 4-5-6-7 in Banton Primary, the Banton Biggies. From 1993 until 17th October 2008 a class teacher at Sandaig Primary in Glasgow. In 20th October 2008 I joined North Lanarkshire Council as an Educational ICT Development Officer where I was until 2016. From January 2014 till December 2015 I was on secondment to the Scottish Government to work on Glow as Product Owner mostly on Glow Blogs. I am continuing the role on a part time basis.
