Pome no more:-( A lovely newsletter shutting down.

Tinyletter, which has hosted Pome since it began in 2014, will itself soon shut down

I now need another source of “Short modern poems“.

Stonechat sitting on snowy branch. more snowy branches in background.

I’ve had an unpleasant virus for the past 6 or 7 weeks. So I’ver not been out much apart from going to work. It seems to be departing so I got a first wee walk in ages around a snowy Ardinning. Quite lovely.

iNaturalist a year in review:

Graphic of observations, species and identifications I've added to iNaturalist this year: 249 observations, 157 species and 10 IDs

I started adding photos to iNaturalist in April this year. Find it a very useful site for identifying flora & fauna. Obviously need to help others in IDing a bit more.

I love Castro for podcatching but it has stopped downloading feeds & I can’t export my subs. Is there another podcast app that allows you to triage what you want to listen to & download  in the same sort of way? I like to subscribe to a lot of feed but listen to a selection.

Read: Knots and Crosses by Ian Rankin ★★★☆☆ 📚
First Rebus, a darker character than the later series (which I’ve read quite a few in random order). I got the first 3 in a kindle 99p bundle so will read the next couple  too, not just yet.

Read: Three Fires by Denise Mina ★★★★☆ 📚
Lightly fictionalised account of Girolamo_Savonarola‘s life in Renaissance Florence. Radical & powerful social reformer, anti-semite & inspirer of bonfires of the vanities.

Loch Ardinning – British Dragonfly Society

I’ve visited the loch and the The British Dragonfly site many times. Never this page. Quite delighted to see that the header photo is mine. I presumed picked up from Flickr.

BBP episode 8 haiku and poetry

My class finished a wee podcast episode today. As usual I find this a very worthwhile exercise in class.

  • RT by @andywightman: Very concerning that woodland creation appears to have been conflated with tree planting, which is the entire focus of this press release - natural regeneration doesn't get a mention. Will the summit be the same?
