I find it pretty difficult to keep up with any sort of daily activity.
Kind: Notes
Read: The Burgess Boys by Elizabeth Strout
★★★☆☆ 📚
Found this a bit less satisfactory that Olive Kitteridge, which I adored. The boys have a sister & a fair bit of family tension. A lot going on, immigrants, New York & Maine, differences in class…
WordPress logon redirect
I’ve had to search for this one several times so putting it here so that it might make it stick or be easier to find.
Sometimes working with my pupils I want to send them to a blog, have them logged on but not go to the dashboard.
the login url has a redirect_to parameter.
So I I use a url like
blog-address/wp-login.php?redirect_to=page-I-want-the-pupil-to-go-to
Where blog-address is the blog I want them to log on to and page-I-want-the-pupil-to-go-to is a relative or full url
I often share notes to my class via AirDrop and hide long urls but typing a name, selecting it and making it a link, ⌘-k on mac. Unfortunalty you have to create linked text in another app on iOs and paste it in.
Must take better notes.
When I see something I like, or think will be useful, I do one of several things:
– Know I’ll remember
– Add it to pinboard
– Send it to drafts
– Post to my blog
– Favourite it with in ever system I am in.
Yet again this has failed me.
Read: Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead ★★★★★ 📚
Great book, story of fictional woman aviator who circles the globe, embedded in family history & film of her life. Covering a lot of ground, in all senses, it pretty much all fits together.
My blog was born on 5th February 2005, which makes it 17 years old today. I continue to find blogging valuable, both the process and the concept. I also read old posts most days which may well be the best thing about it.
When I find a time saver or tool that improves my workflow, I like sharing it. Much of what I know comes from others’ generous sharing of ideas and solutions. It’s kinda like paying it forward – feels right.
from: I like sharing useful things
This site like Joe Jennett’s others, the dailywebthing linkport and simply. is a great way to broaden your outlook and schedule some serendipity. I am sortof paying it forward too;-)
Read: A Woman Made of Snow by Elisabeth Gifford
Read: We’ll Always Have Casablanca: The Life, Legend, and Afterlife of Hollywood’s Most Beloved Movie by Isenberg, Noah
Read after watching the movie again, great mix of ideas and gossip, I am read for another watch. ★★★★☆ 📚
Read: The Cat Who Saved Books by Sōsuke Natsukawa translated Louise Heal Kawai ★★★☆☆ 📚
Carelessly throwing this into the slight, fun Japanese novel pile.
