I favorite any @creativecommons image I use from @flickr and used to have a stream of my faves on my “Image Attribution” page. Seeing that it was a flash player my favorite stream isn’t working. Anyone have an idea of how I could add it bacK? #IndieWeb

If there is not a WordPress plugin that will do the trick I think it would be fairly simple to make one to do this using the Flickr API Flickr Services: Flickr API: flickr.favorites.getList.

I just read this on OLDaily ~ by Stephen Downes in my RSS reader.

apparently YouTube has decided to allow users to follow channels via RSS again,

from: YouTube has (apparently) reinstated RSS feeds – BiteofanApple

It seems to work, I’ve aded my own channel to my RSS reader, Inoreader, and it worked fine.

The feeds seem to lack description, inoreader (and I’d guess other RSS readers) pick up the video from the media:content tag (I’d guess).

This could be useful for bringing content together with other feeds. Perhaps YouTube will bring back tags too…

Update, borked again

Note to self. I’ve a few wee things 1recondite projects if you like, that run off a Raspberry pi.

The Pi is at pi.johnj.info I use Zone Edit and dynamic dns to keep the subdomain pointing at my home network when its external IP address changes.

This stopped working. It looks like

A Dynamic Authentication Token is required in order to use our Dynamic DNS services. The tokens are generated on a per domain basis.

This is used in the place of my zoneedit password which used to work.

Pick a colour for the day. Notice it anywhere you go. Take photos. Pick the best one to show us. Did you notice that setting an intention to notice something, helped you pay attention and be more aware of your surroundings?

Thursday was a lovely day a bit of frost and a clear sky. unfortunately I was stuck indoors all day. I thought I’d wait till the weekend.

As atonement for not doing it on the right day I decided on yellow as I thought that would be hard.

Saturday started a dreach damp day sleet, rain and wet snow. I still managed to find plenty of yellow.

I love these simple challenges best of all this morning yellow shone out like lights. I didn’t even take gave of the opportunities.

File under another thing about WordPress I didn’t know.

I do not use the more tag on this blog very often, but it is a handy thing if you do not want all the text from a post filling up your home page. I was using it elsewhere today and wondered if I could edit the text from the standard Continue reading → turns out you can. You need to stitch to the Text view in the post editor, rather than the Visual, There you will see:

you can edit it like this:

I’ve not really checked out the new features of WordPress 4.4 in any depth but this new feature looks interesting. Just pasting a url to another WordPress blog post into the editor creates an embedded ‘card’ with some details.

I could imagine this would make a nice way of linking to pupil or class blog posts in a school blog. Hopefully we will not wait too long before Glow Blogs get to WordPress version 4.4.

I’d have like it even more if the embed above had picked up the featured image for the post. Update, I think there is something unexpected going on with this post, either from the styles here or on the embedded post. looking at the source, there does seem to be an image in there! More investigation tomorrow. Update 2: the thumbnail shows up for me now!
