3 years ago I was posting occasional lists of interesting posts on microblog, this one, 🗓️ ♥︎<280 Turned up on my on this day page today. A lot of broken links.
Kind: Notes
Had a short walk around a couple of hills in Glen Fruin yesterday with Christine & Michael. It has been about 8 weeks since I was on a hill and I got quite puffed on the up.

Watched: HARAKIRI (1962 Film) : SHOCHIKU
Great movie. Full of quiet and stillness. According to Wikipedia it lost the Palme d’Or to the Leopard, another film I love. 🎥
Read: Klara and the Sun Kazuo Ishiguro ★★★★★ 📚
“Never let me go” comes to my mind regularly, wonderful book & film. This is a gentler take on the same territory. Crystal clear storytelling.
Read: The Sea Is Not Made of Water by Adam Nicolson ★★★★☆ 📚
Somewhat about the life in 3 tidal pools the author made. Shoreline nature, history of Argyll, sea & planet. I particularly enjoyed the ecology of the shore, the relationship between limpets, winkles crabs & seaweed.
Another interesting way to blog, sheet-posting, where you blog in a Google Spread sheet. I had a quick try. I’ve messed about with using Google Sheets as a store before. Guess you alway need to remember Google could pull the sheet from under your feet. I also remember when you could stick a webpage in google docs (or dropbox) and it would be served. The Sheets-Posting site is made with glitch.
Read: The Case of the General’s Thumb by Andrey Kurkov ★★★★☆ 📚 Ukrainian police and Russian KGB race around in a confusing and occasionally daft plot. The characters as lost as the reader. If you see a backward shooting gun in the first act…
Thanks to @sheilmcn I’ve used a TaDa.txt file rather than a todo.txt for a week. So far so good, “Ta da” not “to do” . . . – howsheilaseesIT
For the last few years I’ve had a education subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud. Mostly for Fireworks. FW is not going to survive past Mac OS 10.15, Catalina, 2019, 64 bit only. Yesterday I cancelled my sub. I’ll miss FW’s separation of layers & frames in gifs.
Read Second Place by Rachel Cusk ★★★★☆ 📚 pretty intense narrator who is obsessed with self absorbed artist.
