Despite the drizzle spring seems to have arrived in the Park.

The frogs were making a racket in the wee pond, this albino stood out.

Dabchick & chick. Only one chick at the moment but the adult’s partner seems to be stuck on a nest.

After being driven off their previous nest by coots the dabchicks are back in Victoria Park. Yesterday we saw a change over at the nest and perhaps an egg.

Note the dried bramble(?) right in front designed to confuse my auto focus.

Young Woodpecker
I’d heard there was a woodpecker nesting in the park and seen the guys with the huge lens pointing at this dead tree. This evening we head a lot of chirping and saw this wee guy popping its head out. There seems to be more woodpeckers around this year.

A couple of the coot nests on the park pond had chicks, spent a while sitting in the sun watching the parents feed and protect on one. Few more photos on Flickr.
