I found my old iPod last night, took a while to get it to boot, but I recorded a microcast just for nostalgia. I use this quite a lot around 2005-9 to record podcasts with my primary classes. There seem to be some interesting crackles added this time.
Suprisingly it mounted on my mac, I could drag the wav file to the desktop and convert to mp3, no other editing.
@johnjohnston 15 to 19 years ago! That’s pretty amazing these days.
@johnjohnston I just listened to this – wonderful! thanks for sharing!
John Johnston: iPod podcasting nostalgia – John found an old iPod with a recording device that he used to make podcasts some time ago – and he made a podcast with it just this week – neat!
@the it is. I am quite torn. Kept my last phone for 5 years, huge jump especially camera and battery. But wish there was modular updates.
@AndySylvester thanks. It is delightful technology.
@johnjohnston Oh yes, those were the days. I think my old iPod is still around somewhere. There was an amazing guide to fitting it with an SSD a while back, but I never actually followed through on that.
@jeremycherfas I’ve seen those, I don’t think I’ve got the hardware skills. Smallest thing I’ve opened up was a PowerBook duo another blast from the past!
@johnjohnston I don’t think I do either, but it is fun to fantasize.
