Thanks to my On This Day page (thanks to Alan for that), II find my review of 2006:
One of the things I like about blogging is how posts disappear into the archive to be forgotten.
One of the things I hate about blogging is how posts disappear into the archive to be forgotten
Lots of broken links some of which I’ve fixed. Led me down rabbit hole of old posts.
(NB this was yesterday’s on this day, forgot to publish)
@johnjohnston I hear ya about the dead links. It’s almost like the places you used to visit almost daily are now abandoned and derelict.
@pratik @johnjohnston I had the same when I went spelunking in the Wayback Machine the other day for an old blog of mine. Most of the blogroll was deadwood.
@AlanRalph @pratik yup, I try and fix a few now and again, but entropy is winning. I do have a plugin “Post Archival in the Internet Archive” but the link for the site for the plugin is broken!
I also use Amber which preserves anything you link to on the Internet Archive.
[that wee ScotEduBlog mention in May turned took legs, didn’t it?]
