I've started yet another system of producing maps of walks with photos. I've made a few in the past, some now broken by changes in the google maps API or dropbox not letting you serve files.

This method uses Leaflet - a JavaScript library for interactive maps and leaflet-gpx rather than google maps. The photos are albums on flickr (brought in with the Flickr API) and the gpx files uploaded to the web.

  1. Go for a walk
  2. Record gpx file with Trails app.
  3. Take photos with phone and camera
  4. Load camera photos into folder on mac, phone photos show in photos app
  5. Airdrop gpx file to mac from Trails app
  6. Add location to camera photos with exiftool -geotag TRKFILE FOLDER
  7. Import photos into photos app
  8. Upload photo Flickr, arrange into album and add description
  9. Trim the gpx file with BBEdit
  10. Upload gpx file
  11. Add link to this index
