{"id":7832,"date":"2018-08-31T17:01:34","date_gmt":"2018-08-31T16:01:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/?p=7832"},"modified":"2018-08-31T17:01:34","modified_gmt":"2018-08-31T16:01:34","slug":"listened-tide-episode-107","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/listened-tide-episode-107\/","title":{"rendered":"Listened: Tide Episode #107: Decentralised and ethical tech &#x1f3a7;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first long podcast I&#8217;ve listend to in a while as I&#8217;ve mostly been listening to microcasts (some great ones listed on <a href=\"https:\/\/microcast.club\/\">Microcast.club<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve known Doug &amp; Dai for a good few years, although I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ve meet Dai in person, so it is nice to hear the informal chat going weaving round the edu (and not so edu) tech.<\/p>\n<p>The most interesting link for me was <a href=\"https:\/\/pixelfed.social\/\">PixelFed<\/a> <em>a federated image sharing platform, powered by the ActivityPub protocol<\/em>. An instragam like service avoiding some of the drawbacks of instagram. I signed up, <a href=\"https:\/\/pixelfed.social\/johnjohnston\">johnjohnston on PixelFed<\/a>. It looks early days, but a not-yet working link to an API gives me hope of the possibilities of <a href=\"https:\/\/indieweb.org\/POSSE\">POSSE<\/a>.
