{"id":442,"date":"2005-12-27T17:45:00","date_gmt":"2005-12-27T17:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/?e=442"},"modified":"2025-12-27T20:38:37","modified_gmt":"2025-12-27T20:38:37","slug":"more-aggragation-thoughs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/more-aggragation-thoughs\/","title":{"rendered":"More aggragation thoughs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following <a title=\"Education\/Technology - Tim Lauer\" href=\"http:\/\/tim.lauer.name\/\">Tim Lauer<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20060105093644\/http:\/\/jade.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu\/cdb\/2005\/12\/21\/inward-outward\/\">Inward \/ Outward Aggregating<\/a> on CodeDogBlog got me thinking about aggregation and reading my regular blogs again.<\/p>\n<p>I am not convinced that <a href=\"http:\/\/scotEduBlog.suprglu.com\/\">Scottish Education Blogs<\/a> on <a title=\"Suprglu piecing your e-life together\" href=\"http:\/\/www.suprglu.com\/\">Suprglu<\/a> works in the way I want it too.<a href=\"http:\/\/edu.blogs.com\/edublogs\/\">Ewan&#8217;s<\/a> feed and other typepad feeds don&#8217;t seem to work the way I&#8217;d expect. It seems there are 3 feeds for Ewan&#8217;s blog <a title=\"Atom\" href=\"http:\/\/edu.blogs.com\/edublogs\/atom.xml\">Atom<\/a>, <a title=\"RSS 1.0\" href=\"http:\/\/edu.blogs.com\/edublogs\/index.rdf\">RSS 1.0<\/a> and <a title=\"RSS 2.0\" href=\"http:\/\/edu.blogs.com\/edublogs\/rss.xml\"> RSS 2.0<\/a> plus a <a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/edublogs\">feedburner<\/a> one.<\/p>\n<p>The rdf file (RSS 1.0) andthe feedburner one seem to have all the entries dated as today, this seems to confuse <a title=\"Suprglu piecing your e-life together\" href=\"http:\/\/www.suprglu.com\/\">Suprglu<\/a> and me, I think this really should be simpler.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway the <a href=\"http:\/\/jade.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu\/cdb\/2005\/12\/21\/inward-outward\/\">Inward \/ Outward Aggregating<\/a> post and its comments lead me to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.netvibes.com\/\">NetVibes<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><!-- Rendering error: could not popup 'netvibes.jpg'. File does not exist. --><\/p>\n<p>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goowy.com\/\">goowy<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><!-- Rendering error: could not popup 'goowy.jpg'. File does not exist. --><\/p>\n<p>Both are content presentations tools where you can add rss feeds etc, and a fair way to while away a holiday morning.<\/p>\n<p>But stll not really the way I want to read blogs.<\/p>\n<p>I like the idea of just seeing new content in an aggregator or in Safari where you can see the number of unread new items, but I like the idea of reading blogs on a page the author designed and to read comments, at the moment I have my blogs in a bookmark folder:<\/p>\n<p><!-- Rendering error: could not popup 'safaritabs.jpg'. File does not exist. --><\/p>\n<p>Maybe I should remake this to hold feeds where I could see unread ones and then switch to the web view, I&#8217;ll keep that for another holiday morning.<\/p>\n<p>If you are a mac user like me you might want to switch to Firefox for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.netvibes.com\/\">NetVibes<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goowy.com\/\">goowy<\/a> is a flash app so works fine in Safari. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.netvibes.com\/\">NetVibes<\/a> say Safari support is coming.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following Tim Lauer to Inward \/ Outward Aggregating on CodeDogBlog got me thinking about aggregation and reading my regular blogs again.
