{"id":4379,"date":"2016-11-15T22:43:09","date_gmt":"2016-11-15T22:43:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/?p=4379"},"modified":"2021-12-27T18:29:57","modified_gmt":"2021-12-27T18:29:57","slug":"the-return-of-youtube-rss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/the-return-of-youtube-rss\/","title":{"rendered":"The Return of YouTube RSS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just read this on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.downes.ca\/news\/OLDaily.htm\">OLDaily ~ by Stephen Downes<\/a> in my RSS reader.<\/p>\n<p>Points to<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>apparently YouTube has decided to allow users to <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/answer\/6224202?hl=en\">follow channels via RSS again<\/a>,<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>from: <a href=\"https:\/\/brianschrader.com\/archive\/youtube-has-apparently-reinstated-rss-feeds\/\">YouTube has (apparently) reinstated RSS feeds &#8211; BiteofanApple<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It seems to work, I&#8217;ve aded my own channel to my RSS reader, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inoreader.com\/\">Inoreader<\/a>, and it worked fine.<\/p>\n<p>The feeds seem to lack description, inoreader (and I&#8217;d guess other RSS readers) pick up the video from the <em>media:content<\/em> tag (I&#8217;d guess).<\/p>\n<p>This could be useful for bringing content together with other feeds. Perhaps YouTube will bring back <a href=\"http:\/\/cogdogblog.com\/2013\/09\/youtube-breaks-tag-functionality-internet-does-not-notice-blog-at-11\/\">tags<\/a> too&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Update,<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/thread\/85275454\/where-are-the-options-to-export-channels-subscriptions-or-create-rss-feed?hl=en\"> borked again<\/a><\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-display-remote-posts wp-block-display-remote-posts__inner-container\"><\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I just read this on OLDaily ~ by Stephen Downes in my RSS reader.
