{"id":3552,"date":"2015-10-26T22:05:01","date_gmt":"2015-10-26T22:05:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/?p=3552"},"modified":"2025-12-06T20:38:42","modified_gmt":"2025-12-06T20:38:42","slug":"sway-in-glow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/sway-in-glow\/","title":{"rendered":"Sway in Glow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sway.com\">Sway<\/a> has arrived for Glow users.<\/p>\n<p>Sway allows you to<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Create and share interactive reports, presentations, personal stories, and more.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I <a href=\"http:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/being-swayed\/\">blogged<\/a> a bit back in May.<\/p>\n<p>Basically the app helps you present media online in a slick way. I\u2019ve mostly looked at the iOS version. The different versions, Windows, web and iOS so far have different feature sets and a personal Microsoft account allows you do do slightly different things from a business\/education account.<\/p>\n<p>The app feels as if it is in pretty active development. Features that were <em>coming soon<\/em> in May are here.<\/p>\n<p>What is particularly interesting, from my point of view, is that sways can be made public on the web and can be shared ready for remix.<\/p>\n<p>This evening I used the iOS app on an iPad to build another sway (<strong>The featured image on this post is a screenshot of the borwser version of the sway, not the iPad view<\/strong>):<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; max-width: 100%; max-height: 100vh;\" src=\"https:\/\/sway.com\/s\/WR42BzNQhsCisIAW\/embed\" width=\"760px\" height=\"500px\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It didn\u2019t take very long to add text and images. One difference I noticed was if I was signed into the app with a personal account I could upload video in iOS, I could not do this with my Glow account. Unfortunately the editor does not auto-add attribution but it can be copied and pasted in the browser.<\/p>\n<h3>Glow Blogs?<\/h3>\n<p>I can embed a sway in this blog using the embed code. Unfortunately this is via a iFrame.<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/glowbloghelp\/portfolio\/iframes\/\"> iFrames are not supported in Glow Blogs<\/a>. I do hope we can develop oEmbed like functionality in the Blogs soon in the same way as we have for ClickView video.<\/p>\n<p>It <a href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-gb\/article\/Embed-content-in-your-Sway-1e1ab12a-f961-4a26-8afc-77a15f892b1d?ui=en-US&amp;rs=en-GB&amp;ad=GB\">looks like Sway itself supports oEmbed<\/a> of other content so I&#8217;d hope that oEmbed of sways is at least under consideration.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve\u00a0barely scratched the surface of Sway, and look forward to seeing how it is used in Glow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update 11.11.2015<\/strong> Glow Blogs support the embedding of sways, just paste the url to a sway into the editor: <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/glowbloghelp\/how-to\/embedding-media\/\">Embedding Media | Glow Blog Help<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sway has arrived for Glow users.
