{"id":2382,"date":"2013-05-04T20:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-05-04T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/?e=2382"},"modified":"2021-06-26T20:23:23","modified_gmt":"2021-06-26T19:23:23","slug":"hello-teach-the-web","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/hello-teach-the-web\/","title":{"rendered":"Hello Teach the Web"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I&#8217;ve just <a href=\"http:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/?e=2381\" title=\"Joining Teach the Web - John's World Wide Wall Display\">Joined Teach the Web<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> <strong>Teach the Web:<\/strong> a <strong>M<\/strong>ozilla <strong>O<\/strong>pen <strong>O<\/strong>nline <strong>C<\/strong>ollaboration for Webmaker mentors<br  \/><br \/>\n\t<em>May 2 \u2013 June 30<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"magicdomid10\"><i>Learn how to teach digital literacies, master webmaking tools, develop your own educational resources, and take what you learned back to your communities and classrooms.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\tfrom: <a href=\"http:\/\/hivenyc.org\/teachtheweb\/\">Teach the Web<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first task is:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>MAKE Project this week:<\/strong> Introduce yourself <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/webmaker\">@Webmaker<\/a> style by using <a href=\"https:\/\/webmaker.org\/en-US\/tools\/#popcorn-maker\">Popcorn Maker<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/webmaker.org\/en-US\/tools\/#thimble\">Thimble<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/webmaker.org\/en-US\/tools\/#x-ray-goggles\">XRay Goggles<\/a> and sharing your make with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%23teachtheweb&amp;src=typd\">#teachtheweb<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\tfrom: <a href=\"http:\/\/hivenyc.org\/teachtheweb\/\">Teach the Web<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Which smells quite like the #etmooc first task, so I decided to remix and recycle my <a href=\"http:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/?e=2351\">Hello #ETMOOC<\/a> youtube video with popcorn.<\/p>\n<p>\t<iframe src='https:\/\/popcorn.webmadecontent.org\/10g7_' width='560' height='358' frameborder='0' mozallowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/popcorn.webmaker.org\/\">Popcorn Maker<\/a> has evolved a lot since the last time I looked at it, <a href=\"http:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/?e=2223\">Playing with Hackasaurus and popcorn<\/a>, back then I gave up and used the <a href=\"http:\/\/popcornjs.org\/download\">Popcorn.js<\/a> javascript files and edited by hand. At that time, I found popcorn maker really slow and klunky on my equipment. Since then it has really taken a jump (and I am on a better box). I found it really easy to use, and would say it would now be very usable in a classroom. <\/p>\n<p>One of the things I am lookingfroward to finding out about is how folk fit webmaking into classrooms, as opposed to afterschool or out of school activities, but that is for later.
