{"id":2149,"date":"2010-12-12T18:04:00","date_gmt":"2010-12-12T18:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/?e=2149"},"modified":"2021-12-27T17:10:31","modified_gmt":"2021-12-27T17:10:31","slug":"links-and-clicks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/links-and-clicks\/","title":{"rendered":"Links and clicks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: right; margin: 4px;\" src=\"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/images\/2010-12\/2010-12-12_rss_from_noun.png\" alt=\"Rss From Noun\" width=\"180\" height=\"182\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A while back I noticed <a href=\"http:\/\/cogdogblog.com\/2010\/10\/22\/more-code-fun-reading-or-to-read-list\/\">More Code Fun: Reading (or \u2018to Read\u2019) List &#8211; CogDogBlog<\/a> which pointed to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.helpfultechnology.com\/helpful-blog\/2010\/10\/reading-keeping-on-top-of-stuff-i-save\/\">Reading: keeping on top of stuff I save | Helpful Technology<\/a> The site has a nice byline <em>Digital innovation for people with more sense than money<\/em> when I grabbed the code to create my <a title=\"John Johnston's Reading\" href=\"http:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/reading\/\">reading list<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"John Johnston's Reading\" href=\"http:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/reading\/\">My reading list<\/a> pulls together various RSS feeds: my delicious, things live starred in google reader, instapaper &amp; instapaper. I read my google reader and twitter on my phone. I don&#8217;t always want to follow the links so star or favourite them for later consumption. The <a title=\"John Johnston's Reading\" href=\"http:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/reading\/\">reading list<\/a>. pulls all of these together. Easy to use and I like the way it combines existing services rather than needing a new one. I&#8217;ll easily be able to add other feeds if I want to later on.<\/p>\n<h3>This week&#8217;s harvest<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/howto.wired.com\/wiki\/Print_With_Any_Printer_From_iPad%2C_iPhone\">Print With Any Printer From iPad, iPhone &#8211; Wired How-To Wiki<\/a><br \/>\nWhich I am keeping for later reference. I&#8217;ve not felt the need to print from my iPhone in over 2 years of use or from an iPad. In fact I got rid of my home printer a couple of weeks ago (still networked to my wife&#8217;s B&amp;W one) because it was gathering dust.<\/li>\n<li>I registered for <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.skype.com\/classroom-pre-register\/\">Skype Education<\/a> as it looks as if it might be interesting.<\/li>\n<li>Of the many <em>What to do when you can&#8217;t get to school for pupils blog posts<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/shareit.yhgfl.net\/kirklees\/kcyps\/?p=454\">Primary Bits and Bytes \u00bb Blog Archive \u00bb Snow Place Like Home<\/a> was my favourite, probably because of<br \/>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cREMEMBER! Real snow is the best! You should only really be here if you get too cold or fed up with playing out, snowballing or building snowmen!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.ooo4kids.org\/index.php\/Main_Page\">OOo4Kids<\/a> looks like it will be worth checking out at work.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/cogdogblog.com\/2010\/12\/09\/adobe-connect-recipe\/\">My Adobe Connect Recipe &#8211; CogDogBlog<\/a> looks very useful for the time that Glow moves to Adobe Connect for video conferencing.<\/li>\n<li>I am <a href=\"https:\/\/forums.glowscotland.org.uk\/forums\/viewtopic.php?f=894&amp;t=2139\">having an interesting conversation<\/a> in the glow forums (login required) about video in glow blogs, this provides some food for thought: <a href=\"http:\/\/videojs.com\/\">HTML5 Video Player | VideoJS<\/a> it amazes me how complicated getting video onto the web is, formats, browsers etc. As someone who doesn&#8217;t understand these things it seems to me that the new html5 video tag could surely support more than one video format per browser and clean the whole thing up.<\/li>\n<li>yesterday I linked to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenounproject.com\/\">NounProject<\/a> on twitter this <em>collects, organises and adds to the highly recognisable symbols that form the world&#8217;s visual language, so we may share them in a fun and meaningful way.
