{"id":19404,"date":"2024-06-28T09:54:19","date_gmt":"2024-06-28T08:54:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/?p=19404"},"modified":"2024-06-28T09:54:21","modified_gmt":"2024-06-28T08:54:21","slug":"keynote-scavenger-hunt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/keynote-scavenger-hunt\/","title":{"rendered":"Keynote Scavenger Hunt"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>My last day of term plan yesterday was a scavenger hunt, Capture the Flag and tidy our <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/bantonbiggies\/projects\/makerspace\/\">MakerSpace<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scavenger hunt was made in Keynote, a slide for each challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve recently read <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/digilearnfalk\/2023\/10\/05\/digital-scavenger-hunts\/\">Digital Scavenger Hunts \u2013 DigiLearnFalk<\/a> which shows how to make really attractive one-slide digital hunts in keynote. Using place holders. They have even some nice templates to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My own approach is much less attractive. I wanted quite a long list of &#8216;things&#8217; to find and wanted to add audio to the video\/photo mix. The result is much uglier, but only takes a couple of minutes to make.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I write (or copy from a list or lists found online ) &amp; edit the list in a text editor. Then copy it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open Keynote &amp; make a new Presentation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a title slide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make a new slide and set the from a to section heading<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Change the view to outline and paste in my list. This makes a slide for each line.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select all the new slides and choose Reapply Layout to Slide from the Format menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Edit the Slide Layout and move the section heading to the top.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video aligncenter\"><video height=\"480\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 720 \/ 480;\" width=\"720\" controls src=\"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/quick-keynote-hunt.mp4\"><track src=\"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/quick-keynote-hunt.vtt\" label=\"Quick Keynote Hunt\" srclang=\"en\" kind=\"subtitles\"\/><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Keynote Scavenger Hunt &#8211; No Audio<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I use Keynote every day in my class. Perhaps  unfortunately for my class, I spend very little time designing slides. I mainly choose the default black on white theme. I try to follow the advice of Robert Macmillan and keep my slides simple.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The class didn&#8217;t have time on Wednesday to do more than make the slides and then we reviewed them together.
