I am John Johnston A retired Primary Teacher in Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2014-Now I work, part time, as Product Owner for Glow Blogs part of “Scotland\u2019s nationally available digital environment to support learning across the whole curriculum”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2016 – 2025: I taught the Banton Biggies<\/a> in Banton Primary, the class consisted of p6-7, 5-6-7 or 4-5-6-7 depending on numbers, Banton is a small school. I do the odd day supply now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 20th October 2008 I joined North Lanarkshire Council as an Educational ICT Development Officer where I was until 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From January 2014 till December 2015 I was on secondment to the Scottish Government to work on Glow as Product Owner mostly on Glow Blogs. I am continuing the role on a part time basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 1993 until 17th October 2008 a class teacher at Sandaig Primary in Glasgow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was born in 1958 so if there is an age based digital divide I am on the wrong side of it. Before completing my pgce I worked for 6 years as a Carnivore keeper at Glasgow Zoo (now defunct).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to working at Sandaig I had never used a computer. At Sandaig I became interested in HyperCard<\/a>, this lead me to create learning materials for pupils, discover mailing lists and develop a website<\/a> to contribute to the HyperCard community and try to sell some shareware.
My interest in HyperCard developed into an interest in SuperCard<\/a> and blogging about Supercard<\/a>. My interest in web design lead me to create the school site, blogging lead me to starting the children blogging. At SETT I saw radiowaves<\/a> and thought, ‘we can do that’, so started Radio Sandaig<\/a>.
