The original DS106 image from DS106: The Open Online Community of Digital Storytellers by Jim Groom \u2014 Kickstarter<\/a> Not sure who to credit as Google didn’t turn up a backstory.<\/p>\n

The Van Gogh picture from File:Vincent van Gogh – Self-Portrait – Google Art Project.jpg – Wikimedia Commons<\/a> where it says:<\/p>\n

Process<\/h3>\n

\"vg-layers\"<\/a>Download both images. Open in Photoshop.<\/p>\n

The Quick Selection Tool is my Friend.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Select Van. and make new layer via copy.<\/li>\n
  2. Duplicate that layer into DS106 image.<\/li>\n
  3. Quick\u00a0 Selection tool to cut out rear figure to new layer. Then headphones and cables to new layers too. Hide figure.<\/li>\n
  4. Move VG layer behind main layer resize to fit.<\/li>\n
  5. Image-> Adjustments -> Black & White…<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I messed about till I got it as B&W as I could.<\/p>\n

    Cropped and exported to jpg.<\/p>\n

    Other possibilities<\/h3>\n

    I did think about the dark glasses:<\/p>\n

    But think the eyes had it.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    I\u00a0also though about tracing the VG picture to make it more in the style of the DS106\/Sonic Youth.<\/p>\n

    Or sending the ds106 image to the twitter bot that does impressionist images…<\/p>\n
