I missed the whole of the burgeon experience and have done only a handful of daily creates. I am not saying sorry, I have made a few artefacts and experimented with some stuff that is pretty #ds106. There is no really useful instructions in this post, but links for the willing.<\/p>\n<h3>Videogrep.py<\/h3>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been meaning to post about this for a while, I did a few tests in June and tweeted a bit about it. It is pretty cool:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Videogrep is\u00a0a python script that searches through dialog in videos and then cuts together a new video based on what it finds. Basically, it\u2019s a command-line \u201csupercut\u201d generator.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>from: <a href=\"http:\/\/lav.io\/2014\/06\/videogrep-automatic-supercuts-with-python\/\">Videogrep: Automatic Supercuts with Python \u2013 Sam Lavigne<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is a quick test:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XtEyB3N1HVw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>And a link to another: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=N7sEiUMvQL4\">blade runner know<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve not even scratched the surface of videogrep, there are some pretty amazing ideas on the <a title=\"Videogrep: Automatic Supercuts with Python \u2013 Sam Lavigne\" href=\"http:\/\/lav.io\/2014\/06\/videogrep-automatic-supercuts-with-python\">link<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I had a wee bit of difficulty installing videogrep, and had, as I recall, to wander round googling to get things running. The videos produced lacked sound, but running them through miro video converter fixed that. I notice <a title=\"Scenes from the Wire | bavatuesdays\" href=\"http:\/\/bavatuesdays.com\/scenes-from-the-wire-2\/\">Jim pointing<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/wirescenes.tumblr.com\">something similar<\/a>. yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Both gifboard and videogrep are command line applications and not for the faint hearted.<\/p>\n<p>I dusted off gifboard for a quick slice of the wire:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rolling_bones.gif\" alt=\"Rolling Bones\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>glitching<\/h3>\n<p>With a <a title=\"Lets Glitch It!: tagged glitch_art_tutorial\" href=\"http:\/\/letsglitchit.tumblr.com\/tagged\/glitch_art_tutorial\">little encouragement<\/a> from <a title=\"DS106 on the couch\" href=\"http:\/\/theds106shrink.tumblr.com\">Mariana<\/a>, I dipped my toes back into glitching world, I am afraid no movie glitchs I made were of any interest, but I had better luck with sonicification of images after Alan posted <a href=\"http:\/\/cogdogblog.com\/2014\/07\/12\/image-bending-in-audacity\/\">Image Bending in Audacity<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"600\" height=\"450\"><param name=\"flashvars\" value=\"offsite=true&#038;lang=en-us&#038;page_show_url=%2Fphotos%2Ftroutcolor%2Fsets%2F72157645703842963%2Fshow%2F&#038;page_show_back_url=%2Fphotos%2Ftroutcolor%2Fsets%2F72157645703842963%2F&#038;set_id=72157645703842963&#038;jump_to=\"><\/param><param name=\"movie\" value=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/apps\/slideshow\/show.swf?v=1811922554\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><\/object><\/p>\n<h3>Repeating Gifs<\/h3>\n<p>I&#8217;ve long admired some gifs I&#8217;ve seen on tumblr that repeat across the page, during the recent <a title=\"GIF FIGHT!!\" href=\"http:\/\/giffight.tumblr.com\/\">giffight<\/a> on emblems <a title=\"jjgifs\" href=\"http:\/\/jjgifs.tumblr.com\/tagged\/emblems\">here are mine<\/a> I figured out how to do this:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/rooster_gang.gif\" alt=\"Rooster Gang\" width=\"600\" height=\"176\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Basically a lot of copy and pasting.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/johnjohnston.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/emblem_multi_500.gif\" alt=\"Emblem Multi 500\" width=\"500\" height=\"136\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the emblems giffight Andrew Forgrave produced some great anaglyph gifs and <a title=\"anaglyph | de\u2022tri\u2022tus\" href=\"http:\/\/aforgrave.ca\/detritus\/tag\/anaglyph\/\">some tutorials around them<\/a> from which I gained a lot (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/troutcolor\/14597966267\">globe-of-doom-anaglyph-1 | Flickr &#8211; Photo Sharing!<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3>The Wire<\/h3>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been a big fan of the wire so hoped to throw myself into some ds106 activity, turns out re-watching series one I mostly get caught up in enjoying it and following the plot, not much analysis going on here.
