Really enjoyed listening (on Huffduffer for 30 days1) to Preparing for ReclaimPress from YouTube even though it is not really in my wheelhouse (maybe a link to my Glow Blogs role). The possibilities for WordPress keep on growing. Jim talks about moving DS106 to this infrastructure. I still think DS106’s WordPress setup (as is micro.blog) is a great example of how we should run educational community.

  1. I don’t really have the space on inclination to watch videos very much, I find using Huffduffer along with huffduff-video really useful. ↩︎
Replied to ds106.club SSL Notes (bavatuesdays.com)
So, ds106.club is now loading securely over https, not that anyone would notice or care but me. I like tinkering on small, zero-priority sites because they allow me to figure stuff out without any repercussions if things go wrong.

Hi Jim,
Someone would notice & care;-) I log on to the club once every year or so. Just fixed a couple of http references to https. I still wonder if the tilde environment would make a good place to run a ds106 course.
It is also a good tinkering place.

Replied to Reclaiming Vimeo (bavatuesdays)
I’m hoping to catch up on some blogging about stuff I have been doing with ds106.tv over the last month or so, but before that I wanted to quickly share an awesome tool that Chris Lott pointe…

Hi Jim,
You might be interested in jaimeMF/youtube-dl-api-server: A youtube-dl REST API server/
Might help with some reclaiming.

I love YouTube-dl useful for lots of things. Some YouTube videos are blocked for me at work but I’ve got a Hazel script watching a folder in OneDrive on my home mac that will use YouTube-dl to download videos from ids in a text file added to the folder;-)

Back on March 20th I did one of my earlier call-in discussions with Scottish educator, blogger, and tinkerer John Johnston

Everyone should wake up to a post like this once in a while. Jim through #DS106 and beyond has been a major inspiration of my digital life. Nearly all of the things Jim mentions were directly inspired or improved by DS106.

Replied to My Instagram Problem (bavatuesdays)
Hi, my name is bava, and I have an Instagram problem.  I never planned to get on Instagram, and I was even less inclined to enjoy it. But 616 posts and 18 months later I’m realizing I am…

Hi Jim,
I’ve been enjoying Duke’s life by proxy on instagram. It is the sort of thing that keeps me there despite the algorithmic post order, many adverts and lack of friendly API. (The best thing about flickr imo is that it has an API that can be used by mortals).

Have you seen:

Which pulls your instagram into your own blog, indieweb PESOS style.

Personally I just post photos to my blog first, often via micro.blog, and then manually post them to instagram.  I use the tag #manualposse if I remember.
